For the past two years I have been heavily involved in the strategic Organisational Development of the Gateway Connect. As part of a small team I focused on changing the beliefs, attitudes, values and structure of Gateway Connect. I achieved these goals through identifying organisational strengths and weakness. Interventions such as mapping processes that support system improvements and work flows provided support and guidance to staff.

As the alternative education provision, cover mostly vocational programs like Construction and Motor Vehicle Studies, I was responsible for the Health and Safety strategy that is a very important aspect of the daily operations.

Other roles ranged from the development and delivery of Introduction in Art, Design & Media and IT@Work BTEC qualifications, along with developing and designing Marketing and Communication material for Gateway Connect and the strategic development of an information, communication and content management system.

I am capable of delivering these services through my own company collab Ltd, that also give me the opportunity to develop and deliver other multimedia products that range from Electronic Lesson Plan system for schools or the development of training material for the NHS Primary Care Trust and online marketing material for Right Guard deodorant rebranding.

As a consultant through†collab , I am strategically positioned to be able to develop and deliver a range of services from Organisational Development, Consultation and†Creative†Design -†Development in Print, Web, Video and Audio production. With links in the industry to deliver services such as Online Marketing Strategies or Web content workshops.

Working in various industries, organisations and†positions I have acquired this range of skills over the past decade.

Here is a brief history of my working experiences that supports my service delivery.

I started my studies in Building Science as a Quantity Surveyor. Even though the construction industry was not my prefered choice I gained valuable skills and knowledge through the experience that lead me to working and traveling in and around the UK for three years.

I return to South Africa to acquired a diploma in web development, starting my digital media career with Edata.†As a Web Developer/Designer I designed, development and maintained clients corporate investor relations information. I used my capacity to build relationships with clients to successfully negotiate clients expectations as part of the client liaison team. My relationship with clients made me an important link between the clients and design/development team.

The above knowledge and skills empowered me to manage a successful design and develop team consisting of three designers and four developers. As the production manager I managed schedules and planned future project time slots, heading up creative brain storming sessions and delegated responsibilities according to knowledge skill sets of designers and developers to complete projects.

In the late nighties I swopped digital for food services industries to set up a new production line for a small family business by managing the construction and renovation of a new facility to accommodate the production line by negotiating with contractors and suppliers for deliverables. This new production line enabled the business to win a national contract to deliver product to a large supermarket chain.

I returned to the UK where I started a full time degree in Digital Filmmaking. At the same time I joined Grant Thornton as permanent staff on a part time basis.

Again I was instrumental in organising, setting up and training the staff that formed part of the support team that delivered†the daily administration of filing and archiving I was also responsible for liaising between storage facilities and department staff. I was heavily involved in developing policies and procedures for the support team as the roles of the support staff became more central to how the department used their available office space and resources. During this time I became the departments unofficial IT support and digital media designer by creating video and print media for internal projects.

At the same time I also worked with Conscire, developing and running a ten week introduction to digital film workshop for students in post 16 education. This formed the basis for the later collaboration with Gateway Connect witch grew out of a project that Conscire developed and ran. I was involved in both programs, initially my role was as support tutor, all while still working for Grant Thornton and completing my Degree.

And as the cycle continues I am back in digital media production as I am consulting for Hill and Knowlton on their internal digital communications and products but more of that will follow later.
